What
is The Gender Photo Project?
The Gender Photo Project is making portraits of people in front of a
black, portable background. The participants are
men/women/transgender/transmen/transwomen/etc. The goal is to make
approximately 200 portraits in order to show diversity of gender
expression and gender identity. It is an independent, non-profit
project.
Who can participate?
In theory everyone can participate. Men, women, transgender, transmen,
transwomen, transvestites, genderqueers etc. However, most of the
participants refer to themselves as being
transmen/transwomen/transvestites/transgender.
What information do you need
from the participants?
All we need is your first name, year of birth and country of origin. We
also ask the participants about how they refer to themselves in terms
of gender identity. This is optional.
Where will the pictures be
published?
On this website (www.genderphotoproject.info), as an exhibition and
hopefully also as a book. They may also appear other places in order to
promote the project.
When will the pictures be
published?
It is a long term project. The final output is supposed to be published
in
2010/2011. However, some of the pictures might be published earlier in
order to promote the project.
Who has participated so far?
120 persons from 18 countries (by 15. December 2008), from 17 to 76
years
old.
Can I get a picture?
A digital jpg-picture can be sent to you by e-mail for free. However
the picture is
for private use only. The resolution will be lower than for the
original file.
How long has the project been
making portraits?
Since May 2008.
